About Us
After almost 15 years of travelling to London, first for professional training and later working as acting tutors in drama schools and as on-set acting coaches for multiple distributors, founders Alex and Phoebe realised there had to be another way.
Cambridge already has some great acting classes, many of which focus on theatre and classical performance. Our training offers something different. We centre our work on modern, practical acting techniques that can be carried beyond the studio and into everyday life. This kind of practical, process-led acting training can be difficult to access across the East of England, with major drama schools being highly selective and many independent studios concentrated in London and financially out of reach.
Instead, our approach is inspired by American-style acting studios such as the William Esper Studio, the Strasberg Institute, and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting — places where actors train part-time, return regularly, and develop their craft in a collaborative, supportive environment.
Our drop-in workshops and modular training allow actors to fit professional-level training around work, education, and life commitments. Rather than relying on a fixed, full-time course, students can train consistently over time, build confidence at their own pace, and stay connected to the craft without needing to relocate or commute long distances.
For those looking for a more structured pathway, we offer a limited number of places on a fully accredited Core Acting Course. Delivered through a series of modules over one year, the course guides students from the fundamentals of moment-to-moment, instinctive acting through to becoming realistic, grounded performers with the confidence to trust themselves and their work.
Alongside acting training, we place a strong emphasis on screen craft. From our own experience, we understand how challenging it can be to transition from the studio to the screen, which is why these skills are deliberately built into the course. You will learn how to work effectively with directors by translating psychology into behaviour, develop an awareness of light and framing, and gain a practical understanding of screen conventions and continuity, allowing you to bring truthful performances into professional filming environments with confidence.
Above all, we believe acting training should be accessible, ongoing, and rooted in the fundamentals. Our studio is a space to practise, listen, take risks, meet other actors and creatives, and grow together — whether you’re just starting out or returning to training after time away.
